What to do with Assata Shakur.

The State of New Jersey is at it again. The push to get the renowned "black revolutionary" Assata Shakur a.k.a., Joanne Chesimard, back in their midst has caused certain politicians to write a letter to the Obama administration calling for her return. Previously, then Governor, Christine Whitman placed a million dollar bounty on Assata's head for her capture. Yet, to date, no one has taken up this cause. The New Jersey State Police's story is that she was complicit in the killing of Trooper Werner Foerster in 1973. Conversely, Assata says that she had nothing to do with the trooper's killing and that she was shot by New Jersey State Troopers as she was attempting to surrender. Regardless of where you stand on this matter, the facts have not been thoroughly reviewed. If you were to believe the State Police, Assata is guilty and should be brought to justice. If you were to believe Assata, the State Police attempted to kill her. Whatever the case, the Obama administration will have to solidify their relationship with Cuba before anything is going to be done. Until then, you can conduct your own research and decide for yourself. Either way, the Foerster family will have to live with their loss everyday.
